About Us

Why Anethos exists

Two careers, one thread — a lifelong interest in how buildings are designed, built, and run, turned into software that helps people do both properly.

Our story

From industrial buildings to industrial software

1 Early career

Civil engineer, industrial buildings

I started my professional career as a civil engineer, designing industrial buildings. That early grounding in how structures actually get built has shaped everything since.

2 Next chapter

Writing engineering software

That career evolved into writing engineering software — the first step from designing buildings to building the tools used to design them.

3 2003

Anethos founded

I set up Anethos, writing business management software for the UK SME manufacturing market. Two decades on, that software — now EasyBuild — is still at the heart of the business.

4 A personal project

Converting a Victorian pumping station

With architecture and construction in my DNA, and a nagging desire to live in a converted industrial building, I took on the conversion of a Victorian water pumping station — turning it into an energy-efficient, comfortable home.

5 2025

LowEnergy.Build

Having project-managed that conversion myself, it was clear that creating a genuinely low-energy home is not an easy task. In the UK there's a huge mismatch between the design and construction of individual new builds and conversions. LowEnergy.Build was created to help close that gap.
